“If you’re going to do something, do it right the first time.” These words of wisdom made a huge impression on Mike Holmes as he apprenticed under his father. That kind of integrity and craftsmanship informs Mike’s mission to “Make It Right,” and has helped his award-winning Holmes on Homes television program become the #1 rated program on HGTV Canada since 2004. Mike’s weekly column now appears Fridays in the Globe and Mail and his book Make It Right – Inside Home Renovation with Canada’s Most Trusted Contractor is a national bestseller. In 2006 Mike launched The Holmes Foundation, a charitable foundation which supports the training of youth in the skilled trades, through apprenticeship opportunities, scholarships and bursaries. Mike was recently awarded an honorary Doctor of Technology degree from the British Columbia Institute of Technology.
