Strong partnerships build a strong Canadian workforce.
As Canada heads into a long-term shortage of skilled trades people, a new initiative is poised to address this deficit with a dynamic, trained Aboriginal workforce.
The Workforce Connex 2006/2007 forum series promotes the development of new and successful partnerships and HR strategies that help Aboriginal Canadians acquire the right skills and opportunities to enter new labour market sectors.
Through conversation built on mutual understanding, respect and knowledge, delegates create new regional partners and solutions to accelerate Aboriginal employment training, recruitment and retention. Typically, forums involve Aboriginal employment centres, sector councils/committees, unions, employers, training institutions and the provincial/federal government.
As a result of this cooperative problem-solving, an Aboriginal workforce can be trained and ready to meet the demands of Canada’s future labour needs.
