Aboriginal Trades and Apprenticeship

Trades and Apprenticeship Project

Unite a growing labour market with a talented Aboriginal workforce.

The Trades and Apprenticeship Project is administered by the council and funded through a $2.9 million contribution from Human Resources and Skills Development Canada.

Designed to develop partnership and employment strategies, this three-year initiative will give employers and trainers enhanced access to Canada’s largely untapped Aboriginal workforce who are eager to fill an expanding employment gap.

This innovative initiative will create, strengthen and leverage partnerships with private and public sectors, Aboriginal employment centres, learning institutions and government stakeholders.

One of the many initiatives of this project will also result in the gathering of new labour market research and data specific to trades and apprenticeship.
