One Story at a Time
Every career journey starts with a story. When individuals tell their own stories, they open up to facilitators, they realize the importance of their experiences and they unlock their own potential.
Guiding Circles workshops come in two levels, giving facilitators the tools to help individuals connect their personal experiences and talents to their own unique career path. Facilitators help individuals create their “career circle” and realize the strengths and supports they have. They work interactively with resource materials in the form of Guiding Circles booklets.
The “career circle” is the basic building block of the Guiding Circles program. Individuals use it to map out their strengths and interests, creating a self-portrait that helps them explore career possibilities. The “career circle” has eight elements: learning; work/life balance; values; personal spirit; interests; gifts, aptitudes and skills; work connections; and, work and life roles.
Guiding Circles Workshops
Guiding Circles 1 deals with self-awareness and esteem, guiding individuals toward an understanding of their life and a career path of choice.

Guiding Circles 2 uses the individual’s “career circle” (building on Guiding Circles 1) as a launching point to discover career options and support holistic decision-making.

Guiding Circles 1 and 2 are intended to work in tandem, but are equally effective as stand-alone units. The workshops include:
- two interactive training days
- facilitators’ training package
- 10 Guiding Circles booklets ($60 value) for startup
- additional key Aboriginal workforce development information
- Certificate of Achievement for successful completion
- e-newsletter
We can customize Guiding Circles workshops for organizations that want a career development program designed specifically for their members. We will also work with organizations who would like to host Guiding Circles workshops for their staff.
Guiding Circles Booklets
Guiding Circles booklets are the support resource that facilitators use interactively with individuals. We welcome first-time buyers and re-orders, but we highly recommend attending one of our workshops before using the booklet. Individuals are welcome to buy booklets, but we strongly encourage them to work through the program with a facilitator. Look for the Guiding Circles program through local career development centres.
