Building Aboriginal Training and Employment Partnerships

The Aboriginal workforce is booming, but barriers to recruitment, retention and advancement still need to be overcome. Employers across Canada are facing growing skilled labour shortages as baby boomers retire. Workforce Connex Ontario ‘09 will bring together the supply and demand sides of the labour gap to make connections and create strategies to advance the participation of Aboriginal people in Canada’s workforce.

Since April 2006, 10 regional forums have hosted over 1400 participants, resulting in 545 commitments to Aboriginal employment solutions. Building on the achievements made at forums in Thunder Bay and London in 2006, this Toronto event will have a special focus on the manufacturing sector.
