Helping Aboriginal people discover their career potential, one story at a time
Inclusion Works ’10 one-day workshop…
This one-day condensed version of our Guiding Circles facilitator training workshop will help you explore your life experiences as a guide for career assessment and the delivery of Guiding Circles Booklet One: Understanding Yourself. Originally designed for use within the Aboriginal community, Guiding Circles is rapidly becoming known as a valued resource for youth and adults in all walks of life.
Using teachings from a blend of traditional Aboriginal wisdom and modern practice, you will learn the concept of the “Career Circle” and how it is used to help you create a holistic self-portrait. You will discover and evaluate eight elements that help individuals build a foundation for the later stages of career exploration and decision making, including: learning, values, personal style/spirit, work connections, work/life roles, interests, balance and skills.
This introduction to Guiding Circles provides educators, HR managers, counsellors, employment coaches and other career practitioners with new perspectives to consider in the career development process. You will understand the elements of the “Career Circle” and how various activities within Guiding Circles Booklet 1 can help you guide individuals to complete this approach to self-assessment and advance personal growth and career development.
The workshop will address:
- Potential barriers in the self-assessment process
- The “Career Circle” as a holistic foundation for self assessment
- How to create career dialogue through use of activities such as “My Favourite Things”
- How personal values influences our choices and how we navigate through conflicting values
