Jean Douglas

Jean Douglas has spent her last twenty years as a Communication/HR consultant specializing in research and measurement. Her primary focus has been on the employee experience in the workplace and how that experience relates to productivity and other business metrics. The seven years she spent working on the Hewitt Associates Best Employers in Canada project (as reported in the Globe & Mail’s ROB magazine) provided her, as she says, “with the opportunity to work with leaders at all levels, from a wide spectrum of organizations, as they worked with their employee engagement results.”

Jean describes her greatest strength as being the design of a sound research methodology. As she says, “This includes helping clients make sense of the results; so that they aren’t buried in the data and left wondering what to do next. I have helped clients develop action plans and strategies that focus on the activities that will maintain or improve engagement while remaining aligned with the business philosophy, goals and direction. This may include explaining the results and potential implications to senior leaders, advising and partnering with HR on strategic action planning, and/or training/aiding managers working with their divisional results.”

Jean has a Masters degree in Industrial and Organizational Psychology. She has the HR professional’s certification, CHRP, and CMC (a Certified Management Consultant).

Jean is President and Senior Consultant at Douglas Communications Inc. Before this she served as the Canadian Listening Leader at Hewitt Associates (Vancouver: 2001-2007), Canadian Leader of the Research and Measurement practice at Mercer (Vancouver: 1993-2000) and HR consultant at Mercer (Toronto: 1987-1992). Jean is an active member of the Boards of IABC/BC and BCHRMA. She is a Certified Management Consultant (CMC) and member of the Canadian Association of Management Consultants.
