Don Kelly

Fish out of Water is an outdoor, television series that features our urban, funny, unassuming host, Don Kelly, on a demanding new adventure every week to his traditional native land and through a series of misadventures, pushes his limited limits to re-connect with his roots and spiritual values - leading to a renewed vitality and vibrancy for life.
Don Kelly, or as his friends call him, Fish Out of Water, is a young, modern, First Nations professional. He lives in the city of Ottawa and works during the day as an executive for a national Aboriginal organization. At night, he enjoys performing as a stand-up comedian at various comedy clubs such as Yuk Yuks. Yet this super suave comedic genius of Ojibway decent has decided that what he wants most is rediscover his roots by going back to the land and discovering Aboriginal outdoor adventures. What he also discovers is that this isn"t always as easy as it seems.
Through daring, perseverance and humour, and by challenging himself to perform sometimes extreme, traditional activities, we witness Don"s attempt at trying to master and understand "the old ways." By having Don outside his comfort zone, the audience get to be vicariously inspired and enriched through his experiences, determination, sense of humour and often poignant moments as he explores the rich diversity of Canada"s Aboriginal peoples.

Don has starred in numerous national comedy specials including CTV’s Comedy Now and CBC’s Comics along with numerous appearances on The Winnipeg Comedy Festival, The Debaters and Madly Off in All Directions. Don is also the host and star of the Gemini-nominated series Fish Out of Water on APTN. Don’s comedy ranges from sharp observations on everyday life to bizarre flights of fancy. He’s a comic for any audience and all occasions!
