Diane Carriere

National Director, Human Resource Development Strategies

Diane Carriere brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to her role as the council’s national director of human resource development strategies. A member of Norway House First Nation in Manitoba, Diane’s career has found her playing leadership roles in diversity initiatives with CIBC and Manitoba Public Insurance.

A Certified Human Resource Professional, Diane has an arts degree from the University of Winnipeg and a certificate in human resources from the University of Manitoba. As a professional mediator, Diane used her skills to forge a unique partnership agreement between the Assembly of Manitoba Chiefs and the Human Resources Management Association of Manitoba (HRMAM), co-chairing this innovative committee to create Aboriginal employment solutions.

Diane’s achievements have been recognized with the Bill Hanson Award for Aboriginal employment and the HRMAM Platinum Award for creating outstanding employment initiatives.

Diane is a member of the Norway House First Nation in Manitoba. Diane joined Manitoba Public Insurance in 2000 as their Aboriginal Human Resource Specialist. Her role was management of the project team that developed and implemented the corporate Aboriginal Employment Initiative.

In 1996 Diane joined CIBC’s National Team of Diversity and Equity. She worked in the Manitoba regional office as the Employment Equity Specialist for both Manitoba and Saskatchewan. In 1999 she was promoted to National Consultant for Aboriginal Employment. As a Consultant, she focused on Aboriginal recruitment and retention, providing services to CIBC’s business partners.

Diane received her Bachelor of Arts Degree from the University of Winnipeg in 1991. She completed her Certificate in Human Resources - University of Manitoba, Continuing Education in Spring 2002. She was granted her Certified Human Resource Professional “C.H.R.P” in October 2002 from the Human Resource Management Association of Manitoba. Diane completed her Mediation Certificate through Mediation Services in May 2005.
